27th January 2012
Admissions Policy- very important changes

From 2010, Sacred Heart will select up to 10% of the intake of students.

Girls with an aptitude for Music, Drama or Dance will be given priority places at Sacred Heart regardless of their religion, which primary school they have attended, or where they live.

If more apply than there are places for, group auditions will be conducted by an external assessor, whose decision will be final.

Applications are encouraged from girls who play an instrument, sing, dance, or have a record of participation in drama performances.

Girls do not have to be at an advanced level of performance, but rather to demonstrate potential to excel with the special tuition we offer.

This is mainly aimed at Year 7 entry for 2011, but parents of older girls are welcome to inquire, as we occasionally have a few places in other year groups.

Sacred Heart offers a combination of benefits to your child that no other school can match:
-          The highest academic examination results in the City
-          The best results in English and Mathematics
All of this AND Specialist Status in Performing Arts with-
-          Free private tuition in instruments, singing, dance and drama from professional coaches.
-          Many opportunities for personal performance.
-          Weekly orchestras, choirs, dance, and theatre groups.
-          Free or subsidised visits to theatres, concerts etc.
-          Support with auditions for national orchestra and youth theatres and to music and drama schools.

Newcastle School Sports Partnership

Every pupil in every school in Newcastle is part of this project which has been running now for 6 years - 30,000 pupils. The Partnership has School Sport Co-ordinators who are based in every secondary school to promote PE and sport. They work with local primary schools to put the fun back into being active by giving all young people a chance to try out thrilling new sports and activities in their own school.
