Argentinean Folk Dancing

On just another manic Monday lunchtime the MFL department decided to dust off their dancing shoes and hold an Argentinean folk dance workshop in celebration of European Day of Languages.

Students enthusiastically learnt how to ‘zapateo’ (otherwise known as tap dance) and elegantly swoon around the dance hall clicking their fingers doing the ‘chacarera’. Much fun was had by all with a special shout out for Daisy Hall Murray who won the prize for best zapateo.

While Argentinean folk dancing may not be the most well-known this side of the equator, it was certainly an eye-opening cultural experience of one of the most popular traditions across Argentina.
