Ethos Updates - KS3 - Ending the year with reflection and hope

As the academic year draws to a close, our Key Stage 3 students have been taking part in their final Chapel lessons as part of their Religious Studies curriculum, exploring the theme "Looking back with gratitude, looking forward with hope."

These reflective lessons have provided students with an opportunity to think about the experiences, achievements and challenges they have encountered throughout the year. Through discussion, prayer and personal reflection, students have considered:

  • Achievements they are proud of

  • People who have supported them throughout the year

  • Lessons they have learned from successes and challenges

  • Things they are grateful for in their school and personal lives

Looking ahead, students have also been encouraged to set positive intentions for the next academic year, so they can make the most of all future opportunities.

Central to the lessons has been this scripture from Jeremiah 29:11:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

This powerful message reminds students that they can move forward with confidence and hope, trusting that every new beginning brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow and flourish.

We are proud of the thoughtful and mature way our students have engaged with these reflections and wish them a restful summer break as they prepare for their next steps here at Sacred Heart.
