FRANTIC ASSEMBLY’S IGNITION PROGRAMME IN LONDON

Talented Year 13 student, Mariam Oguntade was selected as one of only 24 performers from over 1,000 audition participants, to travel to London to take part in Frantic Assembly’s prestigious Ignition programme. The intensive week of physical theatre, devising, and creative exploration was led by one of the UK’s most innovative theatre companies. Not only was she among an incredibly competitive group of performers, but she also stood out as one of the youngest selected for this year’s company.

A highlight of Mariam’s week was meeting Scott Graham, Founder and Executive Director of Frantic Assembly. Scott’s influence in the world of devised and physical theatre is legendary. Mariam also crossed paths with Emmy and Tony Award winning actor Bryan Cranston during a workshop and interview. It is this kind of encounter that reminds our young performers that creative paths are possible.

Throughout the intensive, she worked with professional practitioners to develop original material, strengthen her physical theatre skills, and collaborate with performers from across the UK.  We are incredibly proud of Mariam’s achievement. To be selected from such a large pool of auditionees is extraordinary and to thrive as one of the youngest members of the company is exceptional.
