This month in Core Religious Education, we were delighted to welcome Father Damian for our annual “Grill a Priest” Question and Answer session with Sixth Form. The event offered a fantastic chance for students to engage directly with a Catholic priest, posing thoughtful and sometimes challenging questions about faith, morality, and the Church in today’s world.

Students asked an impressive variety of questions, including:

  • “Have you ever experienced doubts in your faith or vocation?”

  • “How is faith problematic in a modern world?”

  • “How can the Church evolve to cater to young people?”

Father Damian answered with honesty and warmth, sharing personal reflections on his journey to priesthood, the transformative nature of forgiveness, and the Church’s ongoing mission to reach younger generations. His responses encouraged students not only to understand but also to critically reflect on their own beliefs, values, and assumptions.

The session highlighted that faith and critical thinking can work together, offering deeper understanding and a richer appreciation of the world around us.

With Gratitude to Father Damian

We extend our sincere thanks to Father Damian for giving his time so generously and for engaging so openly with our Sixth Form students. Experiences like this bring our RE curriculum to life, offering students a meaningful chance to question, explore, and grow in their spiritual and moral understanding.
