On 19th April, fifteen musical Year 10 students attended the Futures in Music Conference at Newcastle University, to learn about career pathways in the music industry.
After a chance to experiment in the university’s professional recording studio, they observed panel discussions with industry experts on the reality of life as a performer, as well as professional roles behind the scenes.
They then participated in interactive workshops on live event management, PR relations with BBC Introducing, marketing and DJ-ing.
Finally, they were introduced to taking Music at degree level by one of Newcastle Universities senior lecturers. This was a really inspirational event, and helped to support Sacred Heart’s Aspirational Futures programme.
