Congratulations to our KS3 and 4 LAMDA students who passed their exams with flying colours. All students secured merits or distinctions in their Grade 1 – 7 exams this term. This year, pupils entered a range of solo, duo, and trio combined acting and musical theatre exams in addition to preparing answers for the knowledge round of the exam. Performances included extracts from Romeo and Juliet, Pitch Perfect and The Odd Couple. The examiner commented widely on our students’ expression, flair and skill on stage.
LAMDA is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding bodies, offering practical examinations in communication and performance subjects for over 130 years. LAMDA is recognised as an awarding organisation by Ofqual. The grades are an excellent addition to any CV and from Grade 5, can be used as extra UCAS points which help with university entrance requirements.
Within weekly lessons, led by Jenni Evans, our students learn about all aspects of creating a performance including physical and vocal expression; character; set and lighting design; costume; stagecraft; listening and reacting; and teamwork. Through the knowledge section of the exams, pupils learn about the wider and historical context of a play, and how to present their ideas and research confidentially and articulately.
The aim of LAMDA training is to provide our students with the opportunity to develop the life skills they need to be successful: attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas. We are incredibly proud of our students’ hard work and success.
