Mercury Music Fringe Events 2026

We're delighted that the Mercury Music Prize is coming to Newcastle this October for the second year running. It's a fantastic opportunity to celebrate music making in our region and showcase culture right across the city.

As part of the Mercury Fringe events, the Newcastle Music Service and local development agency Generator ran some songwriting and live music/event promotion workshops for young people in Newcastle, which seven Sacred Heart Musicians participated in.

These songwriting and promotion workshops culminate in live performances at the Grove and the Cluny, offering students the opportunity to showcase their skills in professional events at high-profile venues, and hopefully inspiring Mercury Prize winners of the future!
