Do you speak another language at home?
Would you like to share your language and culture with more people?
ENTER THE MOTHER TONGUE COMPETITION!
What do I have to do?
1.Write an original poem in your language
OR
Write out a poem or song that is special to you in your language-this could be one that people in your family recite or sing.
2. Decorate your text with drawings (not images from the internet)
3. Write a paragraph in ENGLISH explaining what the text is and, importantly, why it is special to you.
4. Write your first name, language, age and school on your work.
5. Hand in or email to Mrs Russell in MFL
Entries MUST fit on one side of A4.

Closing date is Thursday 12th March 2026
There will be certificates and prizes in school!
Be a part of the SHHS Celebration of the National Year of Reading!
Up to 10 entries will be sent to the Regional Competition- part of the North-East Festival of
Languages.
Your entry has a chance of being included in an on-line anthology of poetry.
