This June, fifteen musical students in Years 9 and 10 attended the Futures in Music Conference at Newcastle University, to learn about career pathways in the music industry.
After a chance to experiment with music production in the university’s professional recording studio, they observed panel discussions with industry experts on the reality of life as a professional musician, as well as additional roles behind the scenes. They then participated in interactive workshops on live event management, artist development, singing and DJ-ing.
Finally, they were introduced to taking Music at degree level by one of Newcastle University’s senior lecturers. This was a really inspirational event and helped to support Sacred Heart’s Aspirational Futures programme.
