Performing Arts Summer Showcase

On Tuesday 28th April at 6pm, 177 students took to the stage of our Rose Auditorium to share their many talents. Highlights of Showcase included the Junior Choir’s performance of 'Just One World', a song composed especially for the North-East Festival of Languages. Students from schools across the city have also been learning this song for a large-scale virtual performance which will soon be released online featuring Sacred Heart signers and singers.

Demonstrating the school's ethos of 'Courage and Confidence', we also enjoyed our school British Sign Language Choir, led by Year 12 student Alana Philip who translated, arranged and taught their song to her group of dedicated signing students.

Dance styles varied from musical theatre to contemporary. Drama performances included extracts from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Matilda, Legally Blonde and Wicked. Audiences were extremely impressed by the quality of work.

We continue to offer an exciting range of activities and opportunities in the Performing Arts department, particularly in connection with our ongoing partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company. This is our tenth year of leading the Newcastle RSC Associate School network and we feel extremely privileged to be involved in this programme of engagement between local schools, Northern Stage, and the RSC. As part of our annual programme, we are preparing a collaborative performance of Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the eight local school involved; the show will be hosted at Northern Stage during the summer term.
