SACRED HEART MUSIC SUMMER SHOWCASE 2025 – A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

This year’s Music Summer Showcase was a joyful celebration of the incredible musical talent here at Sacred Heart. From orchestral arrangements to rock anthems, heartfelt solos to passionate choir performances, our students lit up the stage with passion and creativity.

The evening opened with a world premiere version of Moon River performed by our Senior Orchestra, arranged by talented A-Level trumpeter Joan Buhalagarha. Other highlights included Mercy Oluwanishola’s soulful rendition of Always, and four brilliant performances from our Junior and Senior Rock School bands – Mon Stars, The Misanthropes, CodeF and Solarix – who brought a rocky edge and energy to the stage.

Our choirs were in fine voice, with a memorable multilingual performance of What A Wonderful World by the Junior and BSL Choirs, and a moving version of Hopelessly Devoted to You from three Senior Choir and LAMDA students. We also welcomed debut performances from Year 7 harpist Niamh Archer and Joan’s Jazz Journey, a new student-led jazz ensemble.

There were emotional moments too as we said farewell to several Year 13s, including Annabel Lancaster, Clare Simmons and Celia Ruane whose final solo, Slow Burn, was a true highlight of the night.

The concert closed with the Senior Choir’s stunning performances of Blackbird and God Gave Me Feet for Dancing, a piece featured in the 2025 MOBO Awards, celebrating diversity and musical excellence.

Thank you to all our students, staff and families for making this such a special evening. We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved.

With thanks and applause, The Sacred Heart Music Department
