This Christmas, our A-level Spanish students have taken part in 'Una Carta para un Abuelo', a campaign by the Spanish 'Adopta un Abuelo' charity, encouraging people to write letters to elderly individuals who may feel lonely during the festive season. In our lessons, students have used their Spanish skills to write heartfelt letters, sharing kind words and Christmas cheer.
This project was not just about practising grammar and vocabulary, it was about connecting with others and showing care and compassion. The campaign ties in beautifully with the Sacred Heart goals we live by: Faith, Social Awareness, Intellect, Community and Personal Growth. Our students have seen how language can go beyond the classroom and make a real difference in someone’s life.
By participating in this global initiative, they’ve shown that learning a language is much more than memorising words: it’s about building bridges and understanding other cultures. We are so proud of how they have used their skills to spread kindness this Christmas!
