As part of our Sixth Form Careers provision, on Monday 23rd June - Friday 27th June, Year 12 students were out of school taking part in a week of work experience. This calendared week is an opportunity for students to experience the world of work and gain a practical insight into a specific industry of their choice.  To prepare for work experience, students started the process in December by researching and independently contacting local companies to gain a place. Students have also explored virtual opportunities through providers such as Speakers for Schools, Springpod and UCAS, with many taking on additional experience throughout the year.

This year over 90 students secured in-person placements throughout the week, with over 40 students securing a virtual placement or a combination of both. We are incredibly impressed with the determination Year 12 students have shown to secure such a wide range of competitive placements. We have students working in Engineering with Formula 1; in Law firms such as Jackson's Law; in Speech and Language Therapy with the NHS; and even two placements with MP Catherine McKinnell.
