Year 8 Retreat

In the final week of this half-term, over 100 Year 8 students took time out from their usual routine to embark on a very special journey—a two-day spiritual retreat at the Emmaus Youth Village. Set in the beautiful countryside, the retreat offered students the chance to step away from the business of school life and immerse themselves in reflection, community, and prayer.

This year, the retreat centred around the Jubilee theme of being a Pilgrim of Hope. Through a variety of creative and spiritual activities, students were invited to reflect on their personal journeys, their hopes for the future, and the importance of faith and friendship along the way.

A key part of the retreat experience was the opportunity to connect with nature—whether during prayer walks, outdoor reflections, or simply taking in the peaceful surroundings. Students also enjoyed lively team-building games, with the ever-popular ‘Capture the Flag’ proving a huge hit. It brought out the competitive spirit in everyone, including the teachers who couldn’t resist getting involved!

The retreat concluded with a beautiful Mass from Fr Damian, where students came together to celebrate their time at Emmaus and offer their experiences, prayers, and talents.

As our Year 8 pilgrims return to school, we hope they carry with them the peace, joy, and inspiration they discovered at Emmaus, continuing to walk forward as true Pilgrims of Hope.
