REVIEWING YOUR RESULTS

We understand that receiving your results can be an emotional experience, particularly if they are not what you were hoping for. If you are disappointed with any of your grades, it is important to speak to your subject teacher or Head of Year before deciding whether to request a review of your results. They will be able to advise you on whether a review is likely to be appropriate.

If you decide to request a review, please be aware that all requests to an awarding body can only be submitted once the required paperwork has been completed.  You must give consent for school to be able to access your papers and this can only be done by completing the required paperwork and returning to school.

Awarding bodies charge a fee for all review requests. Payment must be made in full, along with the completed request form, before we are able to submit your application.

The cost of a review varies depending on the awarding body and the qualification. Charges are applied per examination unit.

For example, GCSE English Language consists of two examined units, so requesting a review of the overall qualification would require both units to be reviewed, and the fee would apply to each unit separately.

It is also important to understand that a Review of Marking is not a complete re-mark of your examination paper.

A Review of Marking is a quality assurance process. This includes:

  • checking that all pages of your paper have been marked;

  • confirming that no questions have been missed;

  • ensuring that all marks have been added and recorded correctly; and

  • reviewing whether the original examiner applied the published mark scheme appropriately and whether the marks awarded were reasonable.

As part of this process, your mark may stay the same, increase or decrease, so it is important to consider this carefully before submitting a request.
