CAREERS PROGRAMME

CEIAG

At Sacred Heart we have a fully resourced careers programme designed to develop our students’ interests and aspirations and give them appropriate future goals that will help develop their life, work and academic skills.

We called our CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) programme Aspirational Futures because that is what we want to develop for our students, futures where they become beacons of social mobility; with school facilitating the highest expectations and ambitions - accessing better paid, better quality work than their peers and increased engagement with top universities and selective courses.

The Aspirational Futures programme develops students in 3 ways.

  • First the programme, as detailed in the booklet below, seeks to provide a broad range of CEIAG lessons during PSHCE time.

  • Alongside these lessons are additional careers opportunities to encounter and interact with the world of work, both within school and on external visits.

  • Finally, all students in Years 7 – 13 have a termly focus on some aspect of Aspirational Futures in their curriculum lessons. These are collated in departmental audits and held by the careers lead. Resources to support these lessons are distributed to staff, alongside additional training.
