ANNE FRANK TRUST AMBASSADOR SHARES HER EXPERIENCES

“My name is Jorgie and I got the opportunity to become an Anne Frank Ambassador in the spring of 2022 when I took part in a workshop with the Anne Frank Trust. They were visiting school as part of their mission to educate young people about the Holocaust and encourage the next generation to fight against all forms of prejudice & discrimination.

I am one of three Anne Frank Ambassadors from Sacred Heart High School and we have been given many opportunities because of this. One of the first of these was a trip to the Holocaust Centre North in Huddersfield, where we were able to find out a lot of information about the Holocaust and to explore the history in further depth. It was quite shocking to find out about the big, well known brands that helped that Nazis during the Holocaust.

We also had the opportunity to go to Amsterdam for the weekend to see the Anne Frank House and the secret annex where the Frank family and others were hiding during WWII. We visited the ‘wall of names’ where 102,000 Jewish victims of the Holocaust from Amsterdam are remembered. It was an eye-opening experience to see how many people from one country died in the Holocaust.

If you ever get the opportunity, I would highly recommend joining the Anne Frank Trust. It comes with so many amazing opportunities, and I would encourage other young people to get involved and go for it if you get the chance.”
