BIG PLAY DAY 2025

This November, instrumentalists from our Senior Orchestra took part in the 2025 ‘Big Play Day’ – an orchestral workshop day where the students worked with musicians from other schools to create a performance ‘from scratch’.  They learnt and performed ‘Habanero’ and ‘Toreador Song’ from Bizet’s opera Carmen, rehearsing with instrumental specialists in their orchestral sections (strings, brass, woodwind, percussion), before rehearsing as a full symphony orchestra.  The event culminated in a thrilling public performance of over 200 young musicians at Royal Grammar School: an amazing experience for our musicians!
