The annual ‘Mother Tongue Other Tongue’ competition took place last term. The competition, which is part of the North East Festival of Languages, encourages students to celebrate their own languages by writing original poems or by sharing poems which are special to them and explaining them to a wider audience. Entrants have the chance to be included in an online poetry anthology to be published later in the year. Chloe S (7S) entered her commentary on the song 'Fairy Tale', written in Mandarin, which was an important part of her childhood.
