Much Ado About Numbers!

On Tuesday 1st July, students from Years 9 and 10 attended the show Much Ado Numbers by mathematician and author Rob Eastaway at Northern Stage.

The show is based on Eastaway's book of the same name, exploring the connections between Shakespeare and maths. The show explored the time of remarkable mathematical innovation into which Shakespeare was born and some of the surprising influences on his famous writing. There were games, performances, quizzes, and mathematical magic!

It was a brilliant experience for both staff and students and really helped everyone to appreciate both Shakespeare's work and maths in a new light; we were able to see the rich cultural connections between literature, maths, music, physics, and astronomy, amongst other subjects!

Our staff were approached at the end of the event by the staff of Northern Stage, who commented that our students were "immaculately behaved" and "brought such energy - they were a vibe!"

Well done to all students who attended, you were a real credit to the school and thanks to Mr Johnson for organising such an interesting event.
