Written by Year 12 students Marleen Lindo and Jessica Moyo, the whole panto team includes a raft of Sixth Form performers, as well as talented backstage and tech crew. The huge number of volunteers to be involved this year is a testament to the amazing community spirit alive in the Sixth Form and shows how important this tradition is to the school. Our annual panto really ignites our festive spirit in the last week of the Autumn term and brings the whole school together. It is a fantastic way for staff and students to take a break from lessons and to have some fun!
One particularly unique thing about the Sacred Heart panto is that Sixth Form students direct and organise the whole thing, meaning there are opportunities for the development of skills such as time management, leadership and organisation. It is also an opportunity for Sixth Formers to show creativity, share a love for the stage with lower school and act as role models for the younger years, showing them what can be achieved when we work together.
In Sixth Form, the cast have been anticipating show week since auditions took place back in September and everyone involved has been incredibly excited. As tradition dictates, the staff have also been involved in the performances and there have been rehearsals going on all around school in the run up to panto week.
The panto tradition at Sacred Heart is one that everyone enjoys and gets involved with. Each year, the atmosphere in the auditorium is unmatched as everyone is there to support the people on stage and have fun with their classmates before the Christmas break; this year has been no different.
