Year 8 Attendance Competition: Striving for Success

During Half Term 4, from February half term through to Easter, our Year 8 students took part in an exciting attendance competition designed to promote one of the most important factors in student success: being in school, every day.

At Sacred Heart, we set a clear attendance target of 96% for all students. This reflects national expectations and is based on strong evidence that high attendance leads to better academic outcomes, improved wellbeing, and stronger relationships within the school community. Quite simply, students who attend regularly are far more likely to achieve their full potential.

The competition recognised both individual and group achievements across five categories, celebrating effort, improvement, and consistency:

  • Most improved form class: 8JAR- who raised their overall attendance to an impressive 95.1%

  • Highest attending form today: 8ODS- a great turnout today!

  • Most improved individual: Angela Kerr

  • Prize draw (96% or above since September): Aila Fasil

  • Prize draw (100% attendance for HT4): Prayantha Nimalmahendra

We are incredibly proud of all Year 8 students for their commitment and effort throughout the term. These achievements highlight that improvement is always possible and that consistent attendance truly makes a difference.

Well done to all our winners, let’s continue to aim high and prioritise attendance as we move into the summer term!
