North East Festival of Languages

The North East Festival of Languages celebrates diverse languages and cultures and our connections to the world.

In their biggest Festival yet, 93,798 children and young people participated from 428 schools – from across Newcastle, Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Sunderland, and Durham, as well as from schools nationwide and 10 European countries.

Running from January to March, the Festival offered a wide range of free multilingual creative projects, events and activities exploring world languages and cultures, as well as languages and careers events and on campus university language experiences to inspire young people and broaden horizons.
