The English Department celebrated Shakespeare's birthday this year by 'speech bombing' Key Stage 3 classes. On Monday 24th April, several of the department dressed up in character and surprised students with their dramatic recitals of well-loved speeches from various Shakespeare plays. Students enjoyed discussing which play the speech belonged to, and any key images or themes that stood out for them. As an RSC affiliate school, playmaking is used across both English and Drama to develop the students' love of Shakespeare: in Years 7 &9, students are currently studying 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'Much Ado About Nothing' respectively, while developing performances of these plays in their Drama lessons too!
