Transitioning from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone and here at Sacred Heart we are incredibly proud of how our Year 7 girls have approached this change. From the first day, they have embraced the new challenges with resilience, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to adapting to their new environment.
As they settle into their new timetables, navigate different classrooms and familiarise themselves with new routines, we have watched their confidence grow. While this specific transition is never without its challenges, the way they’ve faced these head-on speaks volumes about their determination and character. Building positive relationships is also key to this process, and it’s reassuring to see the girls becoming more comfortable with reaching out for support. Whether it’s a teacher, tutor, Head or Deputy Head of Year, or a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) our staff are always here to guide them. We want every student to feel confident in approaching any member of staff, knowing that help is available when needed.
Beyond the classroom, many of our Year 7 students have already begun to explore the variety of clubs and extracurricular activities on offer. From sports teams to drama, dance, music, and study clubs, as well as exploring new interests in art and science, the girls are engaging with these opportunities with real enthusiasm. Every year we challenge every Year 7 student to get involved in at least one club. It’s a wonderful way to build friendships, develop new skills, and make the most of their time here at school.
We look forward to seeing how the girls continue to grow and thrive throughout the year. Their resilience, commitment, and enthusiasm will undoubtedly help them succeed both in school and beyond. Your support as parents plays a crucial role in helping them settle in, navigate new experiences and together, we are ensuring this year is one of development, growth, and meaningful experiences.
As we continue to welcome and celebrate our Year 7s, we invite you all to join us for the Year 7 Welcome Mass, which will be held at St Robert’s Church on the 16th of October at 9am. We would be delighted if you could attend and celebrate this special occasion with us and your daughter.
