Our Year 10, 12 and 13 Drama students recently enjoyed a visit to see the National Theatre production Dear England: a powerful performance that explores identity, pressure, leadership and the emotional journey of the England football team under Gareth Southgate. Students were fascinated by how the play blended humour, movement and real events to reveal the importance of teamwork, vulnerability and resilience.

Back at school, the experience continued with The Morning After assembly, which was designed to help students process change, challenge and collective emotion. They were encouraged to think about how shared experiences shape who we are; why acknowledging our feelings matters; and how we can move forward with intention and hope.

Students then took part in a creative time-capsule workshop, writing messages to their future selves and setting personal goals they hope to look back on in the years ahead. Students also had the chance to record short voice notes that may contribute towards an audio time capsule, capturing their thoughts and hopes in their own words before everything is sealed away for a future audience.
