Friendship Bracelet Making

As part of our celebration of languages and culture, students took part in a Friendship Bracelet Making session with Miss Wood. This creative activity was inspired by the popular Taylor Swift Eras Tour tradition, where fans exchange beaded bracelets with meaningful messages.
Friendship bracelets have a long history, originally popularised in Central and South America, where colourful threads and beads were woven together to symbolise friendship, connection, and good luck. Traditionally, when someone gives you a bracelet, you’re meant to make a wish — and the wish comes true when the bracelet naturally falls off.
Our MFL twist made the activity even more special. Students designed their bracelets using Taylor Swift–inspired beads and included messages in French and Spanish, such as “meilleur(e) ami(e)” (best friend) and “mejor amiga.” It was a brilliant way to combine creativity, language learning, and cultural exchange.
The atmosphere was full of laughter, music, and concentration as students threaded their designs. Everyone left with a colourful bracelet — and a little more French or Spanish vocabulary under their belt!
