The Film Critic Society or “Film Club”, has been running since September. This term we have welcomed a range of Year 7s to Year 9s into a world of literature-based cinema.
What is The Film Critic Society all about?
Lower School students are invited to attend every Tuesday after school to embark on a mission to explore new films. Film lovers or not, everyone is invited to watch and critique films based on any work of literature - from books to plays. Not only do students leave with a new love of the cinematic arts, but they leave with a book recommendation every week.
So far, we have watched and criticised…
· Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr Fox (based on Roald Dahl’s book, Fantastic Mr Fox)
· Peter Weir’s The Truman Show (based on a script by Andrew Niccol)
· Kelly Asbury’s Gnomeo and Juliette (based on William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet)
· Andrew Davis’ Holes (based on Louis Sachar’s book, Holes)
And there are still so many more to watch!
So, whether you like to watch Sci-fi or Rom-coms, come down to Film club and enjoy an hour of escape from your busy school schedule!
Details:
3:30pm-4:30pm, every Tuesday in English 8
