Sports Leaders become Schools 500 legends

The first Sports Leaders event of the year kicked off with 30 of our students supporting running two days of the "Schools500" Games at Walker Dome. The Schools500 was organised as a legacy of the London Olympics back in 2012 and allows primary schools the opportunity to compete in intra-school competition in a range of disciplines: rugby, football, orienteering and benchball, for example. Our leaders ran events, umpired and helped students to both compete and team-build. The leaders showed maturity, understanding and fantastic organisational skills; they were a credit to our school and were reported to be "some of the best leaders ever seen [at the Schools500 event]".

While there will be more leader opportunities, of the 30 attendees, 6 will be selected to partake in the "YourTime" leadership award - a leadership qualification that Sacred Heart became an approved provider for last academic year. The 6 students will be announced before half term.
